Senior pitcher Jacie Taber was back on the mound for only the third time this season and she walked away with her third win.

Sand Springs (18-6) beat Stillwater, 8-0, in a district game Monday, Sept. 24, and Taber threw a no-hitter.

Taber (3-0) pitched seven innings with no hits, no runs, eight strike outs and two walks.

The Sandites scattered 11 hits and scored six runs in back-to-back innings in the third and fourth.

Sabrina Usher was 2-3 at the plate with one run scored and two RBIs, and Madelyn Blair was 2-4 with one RBI. Luttrell was 1-2 with one run scored and two RBIs. Taber, Blair and Kimi Presnell all hit doubles in the game.

The win ensured the Sandites would host a regional after placing second in Deist 6A-4. Broken Arrow won the district.

In the top of the third, Sand Springs scored four runs for their most productive inning of the game. Luttrell scored on a fly ball to center from Makenna Skaggs, and Usher hit a two-RBI single that scored Presnell and Skaggs. Blair then knocked in Usher with an RBI single, giving Sand Springs a 4-0 lead.

The Sandites (18-6) scored two more in the top of the fourth thanks to a double from Presnell and a single from Jensen Arnold.

With a 6-0 lead in the seventh and freshman Avery Tanner on first to courtesy run, Luttrell hit a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Tanner and Taber for the 8-0 win.

After nursing a should hamstring, Felicity Horn was back in the lineup and playing in centerfield.
