SANDITES BEAT BARTLESVILLE IN FOUR SETS

The Sandites dropped their first set this season but beat Bartlesville to stay undefeated at 2-0. However, head coach Sydney Bond said the match should have only been three sets. “The intensity and teamwork was on point, but we had a lot of hitting and serving errors that kept Bartlesville in the game,” Bond said “Had we not made so many errors, we would have won in three sets instead of four.” The Sand Springs volleyball team beat the Bartlesville Lady Bruins, 3-1, Tuesday, Aug. 14 at Ed Dubie Field House. The girls won the first set 25-20 but lost the second 25-22. They won the third and fourth, 25-14 and 27-25. Devree Youngblood led her team with 14 kills and was 14-42 at the net for 33 percent. Madison Burris and Cloe Campfield had six each, Raylynn Mong and Vanessa Myrick had four each, Kenzie Harris three and Cheyenne Henry two. Youngblood has 23 kills on the season and hit double digits for the first time this season against Bartlesville. The team had four players lead with two aces each, Wyrick, Campfield, Burris and Mong, and Youngblood had one. Henry had a team-high four blocks and Youngblood had two. Burris had an impressive 19 assists and Mong was behind her with 12. Youngblood, Blaylock and Burris all led with five digs each. Sand Springs (2-0) started the season with a 2-0 win over rival Sapulpa and they have won their matches a total of 6-1. The Booker T. Washington match scheduled for Thursday was moved to Oct. 9 and the girls will play in the Union Tournament Friday.
